WHO IS HONOR

Onur Basaran got his first experience to boxing at a very young age, when he watched his father coach the Turkish National Boxing team. He had a brief professional boxing career and won the Turkish Championship of Boxing; then, Onur found his real passion in teaching.

He trained with some of the best and most experienced professional boxers in Turkey through his career as both a professional boxer and coach. Onur’s talent and dedication to boxing impressed his coach and peers.

Onur currently lives in Canada where he studies health and fitness science. His goal is to share his love for boxing to the people of Toronto. Onur combines old school boxing experience with modern fitness science to form his own unique yet effective training method. Through Honor Athletics and also known as Boxing Downtown Toronto, Onur spreads his enthusiasm for boxing and fitness to the community every day.

I've been working with Onur for a little over a month now. I'm not a gym person and for the first time in a long while I feel excited and energized to work out every day. I decided to pursue boxing for fitness purposes and it has been so much fun! Onur is very... knowledgeable and always keen on adjusting the workout to keep it challenging yet not overbearing. More importantly he has helped me work around my knee injury and is very careful to avoid future injuries. That has been a challenge for me in the past and now thanks to him I could push through and look forward to my next workout. Finally I'd add that Onur is very humble and overall a nice person to deal with.read more

I am a beginner to the sport of boxing, and I could not have asked for a better trainer than Onur. In just under a month, Onur has ignited, adapted and shaped my skills and love for boxing. With the support of Onur and his life long boxing experience, I visibly get... better with each session. It continually amazes me how much exercise and technique training we can fit into a single 60 minutes. Onur's balanced and motivational approach to boxing is fit for any experience level because boxing is in his blood. I’ve worked with two other trainers before Onur, one of which was a combat sport trainer. All of them except Onur failed. He has been the only one that found the perfect balance between making training tough enough to see results, while leaving enough time for... recovery and avoiding injury. Boxing is of course about skill and technique. Onur makes sure you figure this out, because once you do you’re moving and punching and all the while getting in shape. He’s also a great guy, passionate about his skill and enthusiastic about getting you in shape. By luck I signed up with him, and I’m glad I did.
